City of Waldport Uses Microsoft Funding to Strengthen Cyber Resilience and Keep Essential Services

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WALDPORT, Ore., Jan. 19, 2026 — The City of Waldport announced today that it is adopting a security-first approach to modernization, designed to protect city operations from ransomware and other cyber threats, ensuring that essential services remain available to residents and staff can work securely.

With support made possible through Microsoft funding, Waldport will implement Fortify, delivered by Covenant Technology Solutions, a Microsoft-focused cybersecurity and managed services provider. The initiative helps the City move forward with practical improvements that reduce risk, strengthen reliability, and provide ongoing support without adding internal headcount.

“City government runs on trust and continuity,” said Dann Cutter, City Manager, City of Waldport. “Our goal is to keep services running and protect the systems our community depends on. Cybersecurity is not a one-time project—it’s a process. This gives us a stronger foundation and a clear path forward.”

Waldport’s program focuses on three outcomes city leaders care about most: reduced disruption, reduced risk, and clearer visibility.

  • Secure the foundation: Strengthen protection against ransomware and unauthorized access to city systems.
  • Modernize how work gets done: Improve the safety and efficiency of staff collaboration in Microsoft 365.
  • Manage and improve over time: Ongoing monitoring, support, and reporting to keep security and operations on track.

“Most cities don’t need more tools—they need a clearer plan and a partner who can execute it,” said Tom Choquette, Senior Client Advisor, Covenant Technology Solutions. “Fortify helps communities like Waldport modernize safely with a repeatable approach that improves resilience, strengthens day-to-day operations, and supports leadership with clear reporting and guidance.”

Waldport’s adoption reflects a broader need across Oregon communities: modernize technology in a way that protects public services, supports lean teams, and respects reasonable budgets.
